Llamas carry a bigger reputation than alpacas and it is due in part to their confidence—they are brave animals and will protect themselves. There are countless physical and behavioral differences between the two, but the most important one to clear up is about spitting: llamas spit quickly when threatened, whereas alpacas spit as a last resort when angry or scared.
