Interesting fact:

The group’s favorite bar was named after Carl MacLaren, who was a production assistant and later, the associate producer for the show. In fact, the bar itself is based on an actual pub in NYC called, McGee’s. This is where the show’s creators, Carter Bays and Craig Thomas, would hang out during their time writing for the Late Show with David Letterman. The bartender in the show was even named Carl.
