Chaplin’s film ‘The Kid’ is an exploration of poverty and parent-child relationships. It was released in 1921 and featured a four-year-old actor, Jackie Coogan, as his co-star. Much of the plot was inspired by Chaplin’s own experiences of poverty growing up in London.
