Before casting, Robert Pattinson had never heard of the Twilight novel and only attended casting because he liked Kristen Stewart’s performance in "Into The Wild." Once he was cast, he moved to Oregon and began working on his character by training five hours a day, learning to fight, playing baseball, and doing stunts. He beat out over 5,000 other actors who auditioned for the role.
