In 1918, the Canadian province of Nova Scotia sent the city of Boston a gigantic Christmas tree as a thank you for their support following the 1917 Halifax explosion tragedy. The tradition has since been rekindled, and for the past 40 years Boston has been receiving an epic Christmas tree from their grateful Canadian neighbors.
